New Baby, Thrift Stores and Eegees

Tucson sister became a Granny on Friday morning. Her #2 daughter had a beautiful baby girl. My daughter decided we needed to drive down to Tucson Saturday morning and see the new baby. We loaded up the grand kids and headed south. Years ago...many years ago I could have navigated us right to the hospital...we ended up taking the scenic route through down town Tucson and past U of A. We all got to hold "sweet baby girl"...and had a nice visit with the new mom and dad...and the rest of the family that had taken over the hospital room.
We kidnapped Tucson Sister and went off to find lunch and to make a couple of fast stops at the local thrift stores.
TS and I spotted this bride and groom about the same time at one of the stores. She said "weren't you looking for wedding cake toppers a while back...what were you going to do with them?" Yes...I was looking for bride and grooms...and I did have a great plan for them...I just couldn't remember what it was at the moment...but for a $1.98 I'll buy it...and hopefully I will remember what the great plan was later. So many ideas...so little time!
At the next stop I found this 1930's children's, book back in a corner of the shop.
The book was not in great shape, but the graphics were wonderful...
I'm not sure what I will do with it yet. But, again...the price was low...plus 10% off!
We dropped Tucson Sister off back at the hospital, and headed back home...
Making a pit stop at a old Tucson favorite...EEGEES!

A Short Busy Month

Yes, yes, I know I haven't blogged in over a week...and I have heard the complaints! For a short month February was very busy. I did some holiday designing for a local flower shop. Valentines is such a big flower holiday, shops call in "holiday help". I had never worked with the other designers...but we all knew some of the same people...so that was fun. As soon as Valentines was over I brought out the box marked "tax stuff"...must get all that organized...not fun.
Mom stopped by and spent the night on her way back from Tucson to Flagstaff...and all that snow! The grand kids spent the night...that's always an adventure. And Tucson Sister (and my niece) came up for an afternoon.
The exciting part of the whole month was starting my new job at Scrapbook Barn.

All the ladies there have been great help breaking in the "newbie"...
Each day has been different from the other...which makes it fun and interesting. I started just after CHA, so I get to see...and put out, all the wonderful new scrapbook products...I want it all!
I will start teaching my Heritage Scrapbooking Class in March. The first class will be Friday the 12th of March 4:30 to 6:30. This is the class with all the information you need to get your ancestors out of the shoe box and into a Heritage Album. You can call Scrapbook Barn to sign up. Friday the 26th of March 4:30 to 6:30 is the Heritage Scrapbook Workshop. Bring the project you are working on ...learn a technique, and receive some coaching to help move your project along.
March is already looking like it will be another busy month.

A Day at the Museum

School is out for the summer and that means I get to spend time with the grand kids.
Yesterday was my darling grandsons 9th birthday.
The special day call for a trip to the Arizona Museum of Natural History
(aka the "Dinosaur Museum") in downtown Mesa.
The kids explored every exhibit, and talked about how fun it would be if everything came to life like in the movie "Night at the Museum".
We went out to the History Courtyard so the kids could try their hand at panning for a bit of gold.
On the way home I asked DGS what he liked best...he said "all of it!"

Arizona Cardinals

For all of you in Arizona, the reason the Cardinals won today is because I left the room. I haven't watched one of their games this year. If you could care less about Football...I understand. But...not only was this game a big deal for the Cardinals, but for Arizona too. Today's game was for the NFC championship, and I would bet most of the TVs in the state were tuned to the game.
We went over to my daughter and son-in-laws, had dinner, played with the grand kids and watched the game.
The Cardinals were ahead 24-6 when I sat down to watch in the 3rd quarter. The Eagles scored 19 points and were ahead by one point. I figured I better go in the other room before they scored again. While my granddaughter and I were playing Barbie's (because that's what you do with your DGD when you are a granny) the Cardinals won...and are on their way to the Super Bowl. I would have never had blogged about football except ...

A It's an Arizona team...what other excuse do you need.

B It really is a big deal. The last time they made it to a championship game it was 1947 and they lost 7-0.

C I could not come up with anything else to blog about...sad but true. I'm in between projects, and I don't have any photos of the flowers in the garden, the cat or birds. I promise to do better.
