Lily of the Valley, Mr. Selfridge and black dresses...

I worked on this card while "Mr. Selfridge" was airing on PBS. The program had more story lines then a Soap Opera. The first couple of weeks I was having a hard time of keeping track of who was who at Selfridge's store...every one dressed in black...very professional. 

 The logo for the perfume line that Mr Selfridge had created for the store...that "anyone could afford" was Lily of the Valley. Probable a very abundant flower in the English country side...

Those delicate little white fragrant bell shaped flowers have a marvelous vintage look.

I wonder if you can still find the Lily of the Valley cologne at Selfridges in London...or do they only carry the modern designer brands?

Redford, Gatsby and 3D...

I hear the new "Great Gatsby" movie is suppose to be good. A friend of mine (with fantastic taste and a wonderful imagination...so she would know) says the movie is good and worth going to see. Oh by the way, she saw it in 3D. It's not that I'm doubting her, I just can't see any actor but Robert Redford playing Jay Gatsby.  Now there's a classic!

I love that era...the 1920's with the Art Deco design...and the stunning fashions.  The clothing was dazzling...Rayon dresses up to a ladies knees...how shocking!

  Hair was cut short and with a Marcel wave...what would their grandmothers say?

 The time of  "Gatsby"...the Roaring Twenty's, was pretty hot stuff...plenty of inspiration for a movie.

Chicks, Snowdrops and Egg Hunt

These fluffy yellow chicks  are all blinged out for the Easter Egg Hunt. 

They found an egg hidden in the garden amongst the Snowdrop flower. Now all they need is a basket to put it in...has anybody seen their basket?

Yellow Daffodils

After an "egg-citing" Easter Egg Hunt, what child wouldn't want to go frolicking through the meadow with the Easter Bunny...

Easter Lily

Along with bunnies, chicks, decorated eggs and candy, lilies are a big part of Easter celebrations. It's known for its huge trumpet-shaped flowers and it's powerful fragrance, which is famous for causing a stuffy nose.

This lily that the little girl is smelling is almost as tall as she is...she may need to break out the Kleenex and the Zyrtec!

Easter Egg Hunt in Arizona

We do Easter egg hunts a bit differently here in South Central Arizona. We do dye hard-boiled eggs, which promptly go in to the refrigerator. Theses eggs are for eating not hiding. Temperature can get up to the mid 80s around Easter time. If the Easter Bunny hides the hard boiled eggs and any of those eggs do not get found, long about the end of the week you will know it...the whole back yard will smell like a Science project gone wrong. Instead the Easter Bunny hides plastic eggs with surprises inside...candy and money. The Easter Bunny messed up big time one year. In a effort to be more health conscience he filled the plastic eggs with stickers...that was a Easter Egg Hunt disaster! Since then the Easter Bunny has redeemed his self with the “good” kind of candy and dollar bills.

So what do we do with the dyed hard boiled eggs... we eat them, deviled eggs, egg salad, hard-boiled egg with a bit of salt and pepper

In your Easter Bonnet...

Spring has sprung, the weather is warmer, flowers are in bloom and the Easter Bunny is on his way. It is time to celebrate with a new hat. Not one of those silly "Fascinators"  but a real old fashion Easter Bonnet, with all  the frills upon it...

then when you get to the Easter Egg Hunt all you have to do is take the hat off, turn it over and go off  looking for the hidden eggs.
