Easter Egg Hunt in Arizona

We do Easter egg hunts a bit differently here in South Central Arizona. We do dye hard-boiled eggs, which promptly go in to the refrigerator. Theses eggs are for eating not hiding. Temperature can get up to the mid 80s around Easter time. If the Easter Bunny hides the hard boiled eggs and any of those eggs do not get found, long about the end of the week you will know it...the whole back yard will smell like a Science project gone wrong. Instead the Easter Bunny hides plastic eggs with surprises inside...candy and money. The Easter Bunny messed up big time one year. In a effort to be more health conscience he filled the plastic eggs with stickers...that was a Easter Egg Hunt disaster! Since then the Easter Bunny has redeemed his self with the “good” kind of candy and dollar bills.
So what do we do with the dyed hard boiled eggs... we eat them, deviled eggs, egg salad, hard-boiled egg with a bit of salt and pepper

Gypsies, Candy and Trick or Treating

The best part of Halloween...besides dressing up in costume  is Trick or Treating.
These gals are dressed up as gypsies and ready to go out into the neighborhood bags in hand to collect the good stuff...you know, fun size candy bars and of course Smarties. ( Have been informed by my darling daughter that the best Halloween candy is Pixy Stixs ...isn't that just smashed Smarties in a paper straw?)
These mysterious gypsies will have to wait until tomorrow night to go Trick or Treating...but the beauty of being an adult is we can start in on the candy any time!

Holiday Stress

Tis the season...candy is made and placed in tins to pass out, parties have been attended, the house is semi-decorated, tree is trimmed, gifts are packed up and shipped off, Christmas cards are made and mailed, shopping is done...can you say "Holiday Stress"!
Now I told you that story to tell you this story...
As I was rushing past the sun room on my way to the next seasonal chore, I spotted the cat napping. Not a cat nap mind you...but a curl up in the sunshine to get warm, with not a care in the world nap. Didn't this cat know that Christmas was only a few days away, and there was "stuff" to do!?!
I sat down on the stool and proceeded to chastise her on all the reasons that nobody has time to be napping in the middle of the day this time of year...she could care less. I'm sure she was secretly laughing a me...I would never admit it to her...but I was really envious of her nap in the sunshine...what a way to spend a day!
PS...for all of you that have asked why I haven't blogged more often...please re-read the first paragraph!
