Easter Spirit

I had decided not to set out Easter decorations or make Easter cards this year...I wasn't being the spring version of Scrooge...I have just been really busy with work, and planning scrapbook classes. But while the grand kids were here for spring break, I had them help me set out the brown, blue, white and tan hen's eggs in the terrariums...that's it...Easter decorating DONE!
Until I found this lavender nest with three eggs wrapped in "vintage" paper. It was on sale and too cute to pass up...the nest was added to the holiday decorations...Easter decorating finished!
Then I found these cute chicks, covered with yellow flowers...I picked them up and put them down three times...they too were on sale...and cute.
All this decorating had put me in the holiday spirit, and in the mood to create Easter cards.
There are nine days until Easter...do you think I'm starting too late?

Decorating for Spring

Spring has come to Arizona. Over the last two weeks we have had temperatures in the high 80s to the low 60s. It may take until next month to make up it's mind, and then it will just stay hot. The fragrance from the blooming orange blossom fills the backyard. The garden centers are full of weekend gardeners taking advantage of the beautiful weather.

In honor of spring I have exchanged the Shiny Brite ornaments in the terrarium for eggs .
Tucson Sister used to be Utah Sister. While living in Sutherland Utah, she raised chickens that laid wonderful brown, tan, blue and light green eggs.
I was lucky enough to have her hollow out the eggs (which she scrambled and made into breakfast burritos) and bring them to me.
So the eggs are my official Spring decorations.

Shiny Brite

I am hooked on Shiny Brite ornaments. It started out innocently enough.
Every year I would pick up one or two, here and there. Then I discovered the "mother load". There is a shop in Mesa called "Treasures from the Past Antiques".
I don't know why, but they always seem to have a larger selection then most other antique stores in the area. The weekend after Thanksgiving they have a sale.
So of course as long as they're on sale...I have to check out what they have and end up buying. Now I have a collection. What to do with all those ornaments?
Well my other collection is terrariums, so that's how all those Shiny Brites are displayed. This year the grand kids are not at the house all the time so I have a vase full of them on the coffee table.
The pink and green one, and the gold textured 1920's ornament are my latest finds.

I also found the glittery retro birds at the antique store, thought they were kind of cool,
so three of them came home with me.
Back to decorating...
