Tinsel Hanging on the Christmas Tree

We got a great new embellishment in at Scrapbook Barn, It's a tinted tape by Vintage Street Market. The tinted tape is a easy way to add a fun layer to you scrapbook layout, card or ATC.
I designed a layout using the "linen" look tape. It has the appearance of an age Scotch tape that you may find in a vintage family photo album:
I used a few retro looking patterned papers and a 1950's Christmas photo edged with the tinted tape.
The text border was made by pressing the linen tinted tape onto vintage book paper, and gently peeling it back up, lifting the book paper onto the tape.
Check out all the tinsel hanging on the tree...do they even make that anymore?

What is a Cosmo Cricket any way?

It is that time again, when Mystic Paper Design Team captain Sheri passes out the team members kit for the month. It is always a nice surprise to see what lovely items she has selected for our projects. For the June project I received the Cosmo Cricket "Everafter" line,
beautiful colors and the bonus...it's double sided.
Also in my kit were the stickers that go along with the paper
and contrasting ribbon...too fun!
The patterned paper is a bit retro, but not so over the top it couldn't be used for a variety of projects,Heritage, Wedding, Anniversarys, Birthdays...check it out at Mystic and see what ideas you can come up with. I'll post my project as soon as I finish!
You can sneek at peek at Lindsey and Sheri's blogs and see what goodies were in their kits. Yasu is on vacation...luck girl!

Just like being back in 3rd grade

My Valentine cards are finished, signed, addressed and have lovely 42 cent first-class "heart" stamps in the upper right hand corner of the envelopes...all that is left to do is get them in the mail box.
I made this retro valentine in 2005. These remind me of the valentines we gave out when I was a kid in elementary school. I think each member of the class made "mail boxes" out of empty Kleenex boxes, covered in red and white construction paper and crepe paper...we were altering way back then and didn't even know it!
I scanned, copied, cut out and then backed the retro valentines with chip board. Dry brushing the blank card with a light blue paint I then stamped places the dry brush missed with a text background and different heart stamps which created my own patterned paper. The yellow velum heart in the corner provides another layer of hearts in the background. The retro Valentine was mounted with foam tape to make the image stand out.
My grand kids will pass out to their classmates Valentines that represent Corporate created Icons like Barbie, Pirates of the Caribbean, Hello Kitty and Superman. They some how don't seem as innocent as the ones I remember as a kid.

Retro Christmas

Back to the cards of Christmas past with this one coming from 2006. I had found this Melissa Frances retro Christmas patterned paper at Mystic Paper ( back when they were across the street from their present location, in a corner of an antique store...they have come a long way!). The paper reminded me of wrapping paper used on the presents when I was a kid. I had a photo of Christmas taken at my uncle's house in Tucson about 1957 of my sister and I with our cousins. The picture and the paper were a perfect fit for a Christmas card. I did a zig-zag stitch on the machine with green thread, added the "Merry Christmas" ribbon and a green tree brad.

If you are keeping count and wondering if you missed a post on the Christmas card for 2005, you didn't. I was so busy I didn't get cards made so boxed cards were sent.
