Breaking out the Glue

Just like Sheri said, my design kit was ready and waiting at Mystic Paper. Kim handed me my sack, I took a peek inside...BASIC GRAY, my all time favorite patterned paper.

And a Basic Gray "matchbook album" kit. I have never made one of those before so this will be fun. Excuse me while I break out my glue.

Winter Wonderland

Back to Mystic Paper and the Design Team. The "hopefuls" needed to submit one 12x12 layout and one project of our choice. I entered a very large ( 10 pounds, 5 inches thick, about 13x13 and over 20 pages) interactive family history album that took me nine months to design. And if I can ever figure out how to photograph the pages so they will show up on the blog I will post them. Until then...the 12x12 layout I entered was one of my granddaughter playing in the snow in my mother's back yard in Flagstaff. It was so cold out, I watched the grand kids from mom's dinning room window. I was able to take this picture through the glass by turning off the flash and using the zoom. The patterned paper is Basic Gray. I stitched a piece of sparkly organza to the page create the winter wonderland effect.

Please pass the tissues

Okay...one more Flagstaff picture. The meadows, on the way up the mountain, were a sea of yellow, from all the blooming wildflowers. It was a "stop worthy" photo. These beautiful wildflowers are also probably the reason why everybody in Flagstaff has hay fever this time of year!

Happy Fall

We made a "bonzi" run up to Flagstaff and back this week. The Aspen trees haven't turned their golden color yet. But I did find some Fall in my mom's back yard. Her Virginia Creeper had started to turn. The color was too good to pass up...Besides tomorrow is the Autumnal Equinox, so enjoy this bit of Fall

Fancy Colorful Birds

Speaking of Gardens...and we were. For Father's Day this past June, our daughter gave her dad a bird feeder. He set it up in the back yard under the Jacaranda tree. Talk about cheap ( get it- "cheep", sad I know, I couldn't resist) entertainment. From the sunroon window we (grand kids and cat too) spent the summer watching the birds. Not your fancy colorful birds, mostly sparrows and 3 types of gray and brown dove. Until a almost white dove showed up for it's share of the bird seed. Of course that called for a picture. I took this one with the zoom, through the window. I have promised the cat that she'll have a the fancy colorful bird to watch this winter.

Welcome to my Garden Party

The Mystic Paper DT has turned in their first projects. I saw Sheri's at the shop. She was the first to finish, and oh so creative. Lindsey has a picture of her project on her blog. I took a quick peek at Yasu's blog, she will be posting her design soon. I was assigned "1-2 page layout and maybe cards with scraps" Once I added Color Box Chalk Ink pad in Lime Pastel and Prussian Blue to the treasures I got in my sack it all came together. The pictures of the flowers are from my garden. I took them this spring. Not because the garden was all that great, but I wanted see how well the Macro button on my camera worked. Not bad hun. So welcome to my garden party.

Lights Bells and Whistles

HOORAY!

On August 18th I got THE call from Kim at Mystic Paper, in downtown Mesa, letting me know I had been selected for the Mystic Paper Design Team. Now how cool is that!

The MPDTM , Lindsey, Yasu, myself and our team captain Sheri, all got together later in the week to met and get our first project assignment. My bag had dark blue ric rack, Jenni Bowlin patterned paper in greens and blues and rub ons. What to do with thoses? It did get me out of my comfort zone and I had a great time putting it all together.

Part of being a MPDTM is keeping a blog. The very creative Mike Putman taught a Blogging Basics class at Mystic Paper and then met with the members of the class one on one to help us set up our blogs and teach us how to play with all the lights, bells and whistle on the blog dashboard. Thank you so much Mike for all your time and for sharing all your blogging know-how.
