Easter, Chicks and Grandpa

I have a wonderful childhood memory of a Easter at my grandparents house. We had a big family dinner and a egg hunt with my cousins.

 

  The big excitement was Grandpa brought home chicks and bunnies from the Feed Store.

All of us grand kids held, cuddled and loved on those cute little babies.

The world was different back then...simpler, or maybe that's the way I remember it. Now a days you just don't bring home chicks and bunnies to entertain the grand kids.

Still...it's a nice memory, of Easter, Family and Grandpa.

Pinterest, Instagram and Easter

I missed the entire month of March...I blinked and it was gone. It must have been the insanity of January and February that did me in. Here we are heading into Easter.

We can break out all the spring decorations and add a few more to our collection...

Pinterest is full of creative ways to celebrate Easter...even if you never make any of the projects  you can still feel fulfilled having a board full of new Easter ideas.

Upcycle, Re Purpose, and Valentines

As promised I have Valentines Day tags to share.
I love the charm of a 1900's Valentine postcard...hearts, flowers, cupids and ethereal photos of young ladies staring off in the distance. 

By cutting out the wonderful vintage image, layering it on a pink flower patterned paper... adding Fruit Punch and Star Dust Stickles, glitter pen, a bit of pink lace, Prima flower and a red heart rhinestone you get a "re purposed","upcycle" Valentine Tag.

If you listen very carefully you can hear what the young girl is saying...
"This is boring, why can't we go to the mall?"

Red and Green

I know there must be some little kid out there that's is feeling like Christmas its taking for ever to come...on the other hand I feel like it's barreling down on me like a high speed train!

Back to the Christmas tags...
 This vintage post card is of a young lady all dressed up in a white fluffy snow suit holding a a ball of Holly.

 The background of the tag is Holly patterned paper edged with Antique Linen distress ink. The snow suit and the Holly ball are accented  with Stickles. Two  green Holly leaves with red berries are place on the corners of the image.
I wonder who decided that red and green would be the official  Christmas colors?

Santa's Elves, Snow Queen and Christmas tags

Like Santa's elves, I have been busy working at my design bench. I haven't been making toys, I  have been creating Christmas tags. My table was covered from one in to the other with vintage Christmas images, holiday patterned paper, embossing powder, Stickels, rhinestones, embellishments and a dozen different colors of Tim Holtz Distress Ink

The craft  tag for this lovely Snow Queen was covered with distress ink and then embossed with Stampendous Shabby Pink Embossing Powder, it gives the Flourish background stamp  great dimension. The Snow Queen image was cut from a Vintage postcard, embellished with Stickles and finished off with gold pleated ribbon and white lace.

First day of school

I'm not sure what happened to Summer Vacation...it zipped by  too fast. The kids are going back to school tomorrow. Which gives me a great excuse to share my Graphic 45 ABC Primer  patterned paper mini album...how did you like that conversation transition?

This chipboard album does not have the usual  Stickle, rhinestones and glitter pen bling that I have added to  some of the other mini albums I have designed.  This  paper reminded me of vintage school books that my grandmother may have taught from back in the 40s.

So I created a distress look by sanding the edges and using a lot of Tim Holtz Wild Honey Distress Ink. 

I used two different sizes of chip board pages for the book...it gives it a great layered look. The edges of the larger pages layered ...the red gingham and ABC area.

When you open the first small page the rest of the cover is revealed

Who does "This Book Belongs to"...

The little girl writing on the chalk board or the girl in the red dress... that appears to be giving some one a spanking...WHERE WAS THE TEACHER WHILE ALL THIS WAS GOING ON?!?!?!?

Tinsel Hanging on the Christmas Tree

We got a great new embellishment in at Scrapbook Barn, It's a tinted tape by Vintage Street Market. The tinted tape is a easy way to add a fun layer to you scrapbook layout, card or ATC. 

I designed a layout using the "linen" look tape. It has the appearance of an age Scotch tape that you may find in a vintage family photo album:

 I used a few retro looking patterned papers and a 1950's Christmas photo edged with the tinted tape.

 The text border was made by pressing the linen tinted tape onto vintage book paper, and gently peeling it back up, lifting the book paper onto the tape.

Check out all the tinsel hanging on the tree...do they even make that anymore?

It's good to be the Queen

I would apologize for not blogging for so long...but I have just checked out some of my friends blogs...they haven't blogged in six months...so I figure I'm ahead of the game!

I have been busy creating, making and teaching classes. I have had a chance to make a card or two.

This card is made using the Teresa Collins BeBe Girl patterned paper and some "royal images".
The bottom of the card reads..."Upon viewing her calender for the week she went ahead and pre-medicated"

New Class

I have put together another class to teach at Scrapbook Barn. I will be teaching a "Heirloom Tag" class. These are vintage style tags to add to you holiday heirlooms. The first offering will be Halloween tags. The classes will be held October 13th 10:30 to 12 noon and 5pm to 6:30 pm and October 27th 10:30 to 12 noon and 5:30pm to 7pm.
In the class you will learn how to use distress ink, stamps, glitter glue, die cuts and vintage images.

When you are finished you will have three tags that can be used to decorate a tree or a grape vine wreath, tie them on a ribbon to create a banner , add one to a package or a gift bag or traded in a "tag swap."
